I’m Joanie! I’m on a mission to make learning food photography as easy as possible so that you can get to the important work of being creative. Life’s too short to waste time fumbling through things when you’ve got a friend in the photo biz who’s excited to help you out!

What’s on the Agenda?
This course was created to maximize learning with no room for fluff. Get the most vital photography lessons condensed into an easy to follow format of 16 on-demand video lessons with plenty of interactive prompts for hands-on learning.
Camera Basics
Dive into the basics of your camera and all its settings and functions. Lenses and focal lengths, buttons and camera settings, how to nail focus and more. You’ll learn all the essential settings and gain control of your camera.
Working with Light
Light has the most significant impact on the look of our images. Learn how to diagnose the light you’re working with and manipulate it for total control over your final images. All lessons are demonstrated in natural light.
Getting Creative
As food photographers, we are responsible for choosing everything that’s captured in the frame. From backgrounds to props, styling and arranging objects, learn the tools to create effective images.
Editing
This module follows the workflow of an image. It starts with storing images then follows the path of import and editing in Adobe Lightroom and ends with best practices for exporting.
Practice & Demos
Put everything you’ve learned into practice with a final course assignment and watch demonstrations of different food and different styles including light and airy, dark and moody, shooting overhead shots and capturing action.
